Bit of a Castlevania feel; captures that sort of melancholic sort of sentiment without slowing things down. Reminds me, incidentially, of Resident Evil Outbreak - Main Theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc671bo3fbw more of a "deeply flawed" rather than "dogshit" sort of game, but this track is one of the best in the old school resident evil games, and conveys the survival horror aesthetics of the early series very well.

The Dark Spire is a huge mess of a game, it's not really bad, just that it really doesn't want to modernize in any way shape or form, It's not going to tell you which weapons are better than others, or where to go to progress the story, and it sure as hell ain't gonna help you with sidequests and unlocking advanced classes. The battles in the beginning are kind of bullshit, then it becomes fine for most of the game, then near the end there are random encounters that are instant party wipes if they get the first turn (Venom Dragons if I remember correctly) Also, the whole game has an oldschool mode where everything is wireframe and the music is 8-bit. It's not an "awful game" but I'd say it's a flawed game, it could have been much better with some small adjustments, but it's somewhat fun if you don't care about looking stuff up in FAQs occasionally.
