Lon Lon Rabbit posted:I will gladly post the scans if someone can give me advice on how to clean them up but would rather not say more about the location at this point because some of the people in the Japanese urbex scene are a little prone to drama. Maybe try asking here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/68142897748/ ? I'd imagine that the decay is probably eating the emulsion itself so recovery of damaged ones could be tricky at best.

While I do like Oneohtrix Point Never very much (how had I not listened to this before?), upon comparison of the various different options I've decided to go with Piano Phase. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aG7roRkORL8 e: replaced video with final version atomicthumbs fucked around with this message at 02:43 on Feb 2, 2015 |

I have been advised that I basically shouldn't attempt any kind of recovery cos I'm not an expert. I didn't want to put them into my scanner in the state they're in so I shot about 2/3 of them yesterday in front of a lightbox. Some cool stuff in there. Looking closer at the emulsion it seems to be like voodoorootbeer said and the mold is always on the emulsion side so I don't think there's much that can be done, but after I finish shooting them I might take them to a photo gallery here in Tokyo I know of that specialises in vintage photos and see if they have any advice or contacts.

It's actually 2 different plates stuck together that I didn't want to pry apart cos I'd probably damage them... But I agree they look better like that. EDIT: Also in case you can't tell in three of the pictures it seems like they had a pet monkey.

Could you freeze the plates to keep them from degrading any further? I'm not sure if you can do that with plates. Maybe ask on APUG?

I found some slides in the trash. Well maybe not literally the trash, but a pile of abandoned darkroom and photography equipment. Want to know what people did for fun in the 1970s? Smoke weed and pet cats of course. I also came across three rolls of HP4 120 film that is exposed but undeveloped. I will develop and scan that in the coming weeks probably.

First roll of that film developed and welp, its literally a nude man. I also didn't cut off all of the paper backing at the end of the roll so a bunch of it disintegrated and got caked into the emulsion while I was developing I did a re-rinse after this photo was taken so hopefully it will clear most of it up.

From the first roll of 120. Turns out the backing paper had stuck itself to the film after all these years, so it didn't peel clean everywhere which explains the pattern you see on the background. It's mostly this guy posing shirtless. Buff Joaquin Phoenix? There are some other dudes but honestly one of them looks barely 18 and I feel weird about it, so I am not gonna post it.

I've only looked through one envelope. It's full of photos from 1980s Russia (or another 1980s country with ominous military transports and desolate Cyrillic-adorned buildings).

I'm loving excited for these... It's funny, I just bought "A Day in the Life of the Soviet Union", a photobook of photos all taken on one day in 1987. They all look like professional shots, though, so I'm interested in seeing amateur snapshots.
