Will playing music for bars in a college town several nights a week pay more or less than pizza delivery?

Around here bars will typically pay anywhere from $50-$100 per person for 3hr shows plus tips if they let you put out a jar/bucket. No idea how much pizza delivery pays but maybe you'd get to have sex with some girls/guys who can't otherwise pay for their pizza?

Having lived both sides, the 40 hr/week job and the full time musician thing, I'd prefer making less money playing dance music with good musicians, meeting members of the opposite sex easily, and sleeping in every day. A good cover band gig is akin to a jazz one - everyone knows the standards, musicians can rotate in and out, and the song never gets played the same way.
