Death to the Black Eyed Peas
Song Title: Midnight Oil
Artist: Evil Genius
URL: http://soundcloud.com/anevilgenius/midnight-oil
Genre: Big beat (with acid house elements)
File Size: Stream (sry, couldn't find a download option).
Song length: 05:27

Time for another tune. A big beat, WipeOut 2097 throw back, built around a monsterous transforming baseline and a cut up breakbeat. Acid house gated synths, and female vocals abound with a nice grove to it all. A good song for driving through the night to.

Do you like it? Do you not like it? What would you have done differently? Feedback is a gift.

Who fucking cares?

I'm a huge fan of the genre, but I think this doesn't sound particularly acidy to me. Lots of genres use gated synths. You really need a 303 or something that sounds close to it to get an Acid House sound.
There's a few standalone virtual clones out there, ReBirth, RubberDuck etch. You might want to go vst hunting for a good one. There are also Big Beat tracks that are very vey Acidy.

Here's some examples:
Fat Boy Slim - Everybody needs a 303 (and remixes) Obvious
Fat Boy Slim - Acid 8000 Even more obvious
Meat Beat Manifesto - Acid Again

It's techno but who really knows with this Dick:
Aphex Twin - Cornish Acid

I wasn't specifically going for the acid sound, it was more of an influence - the track being built around a single synth line, which tweaks to create dynamics.

I've always had issues labeling my tunes with genres!
