With almost no warning, I am suddenly in a position where there's a 40-50% chance that an investor with a US company will want to ship me overseas to oversee a large programming project. We'd be looking at hiring 30-50 programmers, and they want me as their man on the ground. These guys have money, but limited experience setting up businesses in foreign markets. I have a friend who ran a design shop in the Philippines, but that was several years ago. The plan as the money men see it is: swoop into Manila (or wherever), set up shop, and start hiring programmers. I suspect poo poo doesn't work that way. It's not my job to work out the details, but I am hoping to provide information to my friend, who is the one behind the project and will be in charge of logistics if the money comes through. If someone would post links to resources where I can study up on this, as well as any personal experiences or advice, I'd appreciate it.
