Lord Windy posted:What is your problem? What is so wrong with Australia that you despise Australians and 'white people'? I don't know how to put this in a nice way, but you're just like the people in the Auspol thread where there is very little positivity. There is all this vitriol but I can't see where it it is directed. Why does all this 'bad' outweigh the fact that we live in a safe, 1st world nation that has all the benefits of our socialist policies. I call it now: "Self-hating white university student."

Btw these Americans you like so much, people in(stuck in) Detroit aren't the type of Americans you are thinking of.

Which also isn't Detroit, just surrounded by it on all sides. I'd also like to direct everyone's attention to the majority blue suburb off to the southwest. That would be Inkster. See, Inkster is a thing because the city immediately outside of Detroit on the west — Dearborn — was run with explicitly segregationist policies. quote:"They can't get in here. We watch it. Every time we hear of a Negro moving--for instance, we had one last year--in we respond quicker than you do to a fire. That's generally known. It's known among our own people and it's known among the Negroes here." He also boasted that one of his tactics to discourage blacks who had just moved into Dearborn was by providing police and fire protection that was "a little too good"—wake-up visits every hour or so through the night in response to trouble calls. That was a common tactic in several of the suburbs, actually; my mother watched that happen to a family in her neighborhood. This similarly led to the rather entertaining borders of Dearborn Heights:

Moving to the Midwest United States to escape racism and make it as a musician. Is this kind of like anime neckbeards moving to Japan to be around people who understand them

Ford and some other big Detroit companies offer rent breaks to people who are moving into this area to the tune of a several thousands of dollars. It's attracted a lot of people from out of the city into fairly high-paying jobs here. It's also priced a lot of the surrounding residents out of the area. I live in an apartment just north of the center of that small island (Belle Isle) kinda on the water. There are a lot of people moving into this area due to renovation of some amazing old high rises on the water. This city is definitely more dangerous than Chicago. If you've lived in a big city, this means that the lines between 'good' and 'bad' areas are less well demarcated and the city is more segregated in basically every way. If this thread is real and not a troll, I wouldn't move here and expect a typical midwestern American experience. Carl Killer Miller fucked around with this message at 23:10 on Feb 4, 2015 |
