Balls can be a difficult thing to render. Like hands and ears they're all different, and culture aesthetics are varying. In this thread we'll examine some representations of balls and attempt to determine what makes a set of nice balls.

What do you think the proper look of balls should be? Dangly? Round? Smooth? Hairy? I eagerly await your thoughts on balls!

If you're carving a particularly pendulous pair of nuts in a particularly stretched out scrote in stone, keep in mind to leave connecting supports attaching them to the legs while you're shaping and detailing the majority of the scrotal surface. Leave these supports on the side of the sack that will be less obvious to viewers, as the texture will be slightly different where they are removed. Take note of the wrinkled character of the scrotal surface; a middle-width gradina of soft steel may be appropriate for surface finishing.

If you are starting your sculpture with clay in a waste mold of plaster and the scrotum and testicles are hanging away from the legs, you will want to consider casting them separately.
