I just wanted to say how much I love Ubuntu, and why. This morning about an hour ago I broke my desktop. I'm not quite sure what I did, but my Unity wouldn't load on boot. Ubuntu didn't yell at me, it just quietly failed and forced me to try to figure it out. Had I been on Windows, not only would I have been able to do so, but I wouldn't have been able to break the OS silently, much less have been able to fix it without a reinstall. Thanks to the Linux community and the numerous resources online (webupd8 being my primary resource) I was able to fix my desktop by reinstalling unity and ubuntu-desktop, then enabling the unity plugin in ccsm. My favourite thing about GNU/Linux operating systems is that they give back control to the user. Thank you to the employees at Canonical and all the contributers to Ubuntu and the community!

my OS broke due to buggy code and poor testing and I had to waste my time and effort to do the research to fix it myself. thanks Ubuntu!

I installed ubuntu as a young man on my main PC Used it for a while and it was OK I guess then I updated the distro and the graphics acceleration stopped working and sound over HDMI disappered with no way to fix either reinstalled windows, didn't look back.

The worst thing about Ubuntu is how you have like a 50% chance of getting a helpful answer or 'Fix it yourself, peon. Linux people don't need help  ' on the support forums. If it's something so obscure you can't just google how to do it then that's when you get the dickhead answers, of course.

I have a VM of ubuntu running full screen on my second monitor. It's about as good as I expected/remember. A half baked windows/osx hybrid that doesn't do anything UI-related right and makes you want to stay in the terminal a main contributor to why so many nerds have a hard-on for command shells even in this age
