I've heard that Nolan used complex algorithms based on real physics to achieve the look of Gargantua. Wrong! He used After Effects and Particular: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jQtIXRU41zw Seriously though I was messing around in AE one day and discovered a transition effect called CC Radial Scale Wipe. It distorts the image in a circle, similar to how a blackhole would, so I thought I try to see how far I could get with making Gargantua solely in After Effects. If anyone wants to tinker with the project file, you can download it here: http://www.nobodygetshurt.tv/misc/interstellar/interstellarBlackhole.aep. I used CS6 to increase compatibility for others. I also created two global controllers for the effects (Echo Count and Particle Count), if you need to turn up or down the effects. Tweak my file and make it better! nobodygetshurt fucked around with this message at 23:08 on May 12, 2015 |
