Problem description: My PC has been running fine since I got it until my GTX580 died. I replaced the dead GTX580 with an EVGA GTX970. Now when I turn on the PC I get the BIOS splash screen & the PC sits doing nothing for about a minute, then it loads windows & works perfectly. Games run fast & everything is stable. Attempted fixes: I've tried the 970 in a different slot & powering it from different rails on the PSU. From google'ing, it seems other people are having the same problem & from what I've read it's caused by the 970 looking for a UEFI BIOS & then timing out & dropping into legacy mode. Most posts said upgrading the BIOS should fix things. I'm already running the latest BIOS for my motherboard so cant do that. Recent changes: A dead GTX580 was replaced with an EVGA GTX970. Operating system: Windows 7 Ultimate. System specs: Processor: i7 2600k Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P GPU: EVGA GTX970 PSU: cant remember the make but its 1000w HDD: 120GB Crucial SSD & 2TB Seagate mechanical drive. Memory: 4 sticks of 4GB Crucial - Total 16GB Location: UK I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes Once the PC has finally booted things are fine so I'm guessing it's something I'll have to live with but am hoping someone knows a fix. I'd also be happy replacing the motherboard if no fix exists. I'll keep on google'ing & if I come up with anything I'll update the thread.

I think I've found the solution. According to: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3g9sgd/evga_970_on_gaz68xpud3_rev_10_no_video/ctw9g6m A setting in the BIOS called "PCIE Rom state" needs to be set to 'Legacy ROM' I'm at work at the moment but when I get home I'll swap the GTX970 for an old card I have kicking around so I can access the BIOS. I'll update if it works.

I've changed the "PCIE Rom state" to legacy & the PC now boots properly with the GTX970 & I can also access the BIOS settings again Hope this saves someone else from a headache.
