Friends, I find myself in need of some help. For a film class, I'm giving a presentation on the idea of "WHAT?!" moments in film, and I need some input. What are simply some of the most balls-out insane moments from any movies you've ever seen? So far I have the dog-man blowjob from The Shining, James Earl Jones in a locust costume from Exorcist 2, a little bit of The Apple (Although the entire film is one big WHAT), some Zardoz sequences, the boat scene from Willy Wonka....you get the idea. The end result will be essentially a video set to Magic and Ecstasy by Ennio Morricone (the theme from Exorcist 2), showcasing the most batshit of the batshit. Again, any help is appreciated.

Consider any of a dozen moments from Under the Skin. And yes, to echo the Lynch idea, the Robert Blake stuff from Lost Highway. Also I just looked up what happened to Robert Blake on Wikipedia.... "WHAT?" indeed. Jewmanji fucked around with this message at 03:09 on Sep 23, 2015 |

Honestly? The ending to The Gallows. Not the epilogue, but the weird play re-enactment with the ghost bowing to an audience of one person thing. I laughed my rear end off at it.

The moment in Vanilla Sky where Tom Cruise is loving Penelope Cruz, then suddenly she turns into Cameron Diaz, then back to Penelope Cruz, then back to Cameron Diaz, and he gives a bewildered "WHAT THE gently caress IS HAPPENING?!?!?" That's one where I was in full agreement with Tom Cruise.

Hausu is great, and I'm going to re-watch my Criterion Collection blu-ray of it as soon as I get home from work, thanks for reminding me about it. However bananas you think it is before seeing it, you're wrong. It's so much more. Also, it literally features bananas that literally appear out of nowhere. sean10mm fucked around with this message at 19:03 on Sep 23, 2015 |

You're the kid that, instead of letting a person experience Monty Python And The Holy Grail for themselves, fast forwards to all the iconic parts and talks along with the scene. The reason why these moments are so iconic is because the movie built to it or it's a dramatic tone shift. By doing a supercut of these moments, you're not only removing any build, you're ruining the impact of those scenes for any of your classmates who haven't seen them yet.
