on tv you used to have to share your opening credits with the last show's closing ones because we weren't as wealthy back then so we had to make things go farther, but it also meant that you had to pick something that worked for both you and the slot after you, so people were more connected too

nowadays kids are just plugged into their phones all the time and shows don't even have theme songs because when the family sits down to watch tv together everyone just picks their own theme song for the show from the music player on their phone, and then shows don't have dialogue either because everyone just puts on their own podcasts and imagines the people in the show are saying the words

i like to listen to podcasts with my friend on the phone, it's like we're having a group call with the podcast host and it's great because my friend and i get to enjoy the podcast together but also once its over we get to laugh like oh my god that guy would not shut up could you believe it haha and we really get to bond a lot. anyway the theme music really breaks my immersion i cant stand it

for years i've been trying to buy a copy of aerosmith's classic 1989 release pump on cassette, but every single copy i've found has been taped over with the ricky gervais show. i wonder if it's ricky gervais trying to erase aerosmith's crowning achievement from history, or if it's aerosmith using the millions of tapes out there from their multi-platinum selling album to help out ricky gervais. anyway, sometimes they leave part of track 1, young lust on the tape so that it functions as an intro, and it seems to work well

A lot of popular podcasts are doing live shows now in theaters. I went to one last month, they gave you these special glasses to connect to your phone and wear, and I swear it was exactly like the episode of Kids in the Hall I had on my phone.

uhh yeah dude generally chooses a different song each week for their intro song and johnnie boy has decent taste in music so they are often good but that's about as good as it gets, cos then they go directly into the episode. but uhh yeah dude is a rarely (and strangely) ethical podcast.
in general the rule is skip the first 3-20 minutes of any given podcast, and feel out the voice tenor on whether they are advertising/talking poo poo or not, then you get into the show.

i like when the host comes on before the intro and talks a little bit to warm you up first, like sure no ones listening to the pod cast for the intro but it still deserves a chance you know ? its not really fair to it to make it go in cold when everyones there for the host
