As far as NPCs following you around I think in dark souls 2 they toned it down a lot. Lucatiel is pretty much the second worst follower you can find as far as I'm aware and if you want to do her quest you have to keep her alive for 3 boss battles. Which can be pretty hard if you cant do enough damage to the boss yet. Bernhart is pretty similar but he at least comes so late that you shouldnt have any trouble keeping him alive. Of course since they are both summons you can try doing their quests as many times as you want.

I'm putting together an update that should go up later today. In the meantime, we have to choose our final weapon for the final fight. In that time, I intend to max out one of our boss weapons to use in the final battles. I am trying to decide between Bramdt, the Meat Cleaver, and the Dragon Bone Smasher. I'm leaning towards the Cleaver, personally, because it's lighter and just as hard-hitting as the others and I'm good with the moveset; however, I'm willing to grind to get the stats to better use and roll with the heavier weapons if that's needed. Since this whole gimmick was based around votes, consider this the final one: What weapon shall we beat the game with?

Aw, welcome back, BB.  Always remember this thread as where I got started streaming. I've actually been playing Demon's Souls on-and-off again recently, heh.I'm not used to needing HP too badly in Souls games, just because one-shots are so rare (things like Havel at low levels notwithstanding), and Demon's has tons of them. In most stages at Pure Black, everything will kill you in one hit at basic Vitality and you can't mitigate it much since armor isn't very good. Keel Haul Smasher has the problem that it actually gets damage from Colorless souls, while Bramdt doesn't (it's already amazing as-shown; upgrading it just increases its Plague resist) and I don't think the Meat Cleaver can be upgraded at all. In fact, I think I recommended that before; save the Colorless souls for the Adjudicator shield or something and pick a different weapon. But yeah, if I can't vote for the greatsword, the Cleaver is fine too.

If character tendency is at pure white, the Monumental gives you the Friend's Ring, which probably includes some dialogue, but other than that, I don't think so.

Geoffrey, you killed the Maiden in Black before. Do it right this time.  Also, I never saw that dialogue with Freke before, that's really cool. I've only actually beaten Demon's Souls once and when I beat Allant (1-4 was so hard I likewise did it last, heh) I was so interested in seeing the ending I jumped right into it. It's yet another example of Demon's doing "dark fantasy" right, where you have this old wizard adamant about keeping the demons around and all the problems that causes mankind just so he doesn't lose his special powers.
