that was scary but the shark at the beach and the other shark in the later level with the big tanker were worse. I felt like that one just swam out of nowhere unavoidably sometimes and murdered you and I was so loving scared!!

“I went to the lake because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary. I wanted to live deep and suck out all the marrow of life, to live so sturdily and Spartan-like as to put to rout all that was not life, to cut a broad swath and shave close, to drive life into a corner, and reduce it to its lowest terms. tongue but hole”

it was more that the whole game up to that point had been really silly and lighthearted and then your brains have to be put into robot bodies just to survive the journey and you wake up in this totally bleak hosed up world, knowing theres no turning back. god eb is good

Nah that poo poo was easy as hell to buy back when it came out, since it sold like crap and was in bargain bins everywhere, I was just lucky to know a few kids with Nintendo Power subscriptions that could tell me it was a cool game.

Also used to get scared shitless at Treasure of the Deep since the crappy PS1 draw distance meant things could just pop up at you and the ocean is fuckin' scary. Especially in videogame land where there's a Bermuda Triangle level where an alien ship attacks you out of nowhere. Then there's the Dreamcast Ecco game where one of the first big enemies is a giant fuckin' shark that bites you in half. gently caress underwater games.

I always wondered if anyone who worked on Dead Space was inspired by Blue Stinger.
