Gravity Falls is legit and its cute and good, and its hardcore fans are infinitely better than Rick and Morty fans.

What a weird definition of star power. At best these people are well known in the Character acting and Voice acting circuit (which overlap very heavily), but you're not exactly going to see their names plastered on a movie poster, or even the DVD cover. Maybe JK Simmons after he got that Oscar but that guys has an utter fuckton of bit parts and voice roles over the decades. IMBD tells me he's been in things like Kim Possible and Phineas and Ferb so showing up in another kids animated program isn't exactly weird for him.

R&M fans tend to be the emotional/mental equivalent of middle school boys that find the novelty of existentialism and above-average writing in a stoner comedy show the equivalent of the next great American novel. Even though R&M is a good show and in many ways better than GF, that level of pretension really undercuts its merits. GF fans tend to be manchildren/women trying to hold onto a misspent sense of youth that GF gives them access to, which is pathetic but far more sympathetic. It helps that GF is ultimately way more focused and consistent with its thematic goals. SU fans.... well the market for LGBTQ TMNT was always there and under-served for decades so you can't be too mad when a starving crowd is suddenly fed from a rich buffet...

Careful now, even mentioning that show can bring them out of the woodwork. Rick and Morty is a fun show about depression and nihilism, it was pretty brutal when Rick got back together with his ex and then got dumped when they realized how destructive their relationship was and Rick got really drunk and tried to kill himself but passed out before he could finish the job. It definitely doesn't hurt that the titular characters's voice actor has a fine resume including this fine gem from PBS Kids! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC5JaIqDB2s

If this show were live action, it wouldn't have a Y rating, given the level of violence and gore.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we, the adult fans, decided which of the characters from this children's show should fall in love? Actually that was a loaded question, and the answer is a resounding 'no'.

I can confirm Gravity Falls is indeed a good show. I was disappointed that it had to end so soon, but it had a great sendoff. To be fair, if it kept going it would've turned into dogshit like steven universe and adventure time.

It's hilarious on its own--the defendant yells, "your mama" at the judge, the judge taunts the guy by telling him to jack off right then and there--but for some reason it's even funnier to me because it's Morty holding Rick in contempt (plus it's one guy doing both voices, plus it's the actual transcript of a real court hearing).

Like, it does tell really good stories for the most part and that's per usual for Harmon, but Justin's loving weird insanity is what brings up another level. Like, the dude got drunk, recorded a bunch of nonsense and had animators try and find some throughline to have it make any sense when it airs on Cable TV. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFeT8UuV0d4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0cUS-wEU6FA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y-_13eYwBQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ba9k5SWwE38
