Problem description: Using Chrome v 52.0.2743.116 m. Every time I open a new tab, and click in the URL bar, or Google search bar, or even in an open field like the one I'm writing in now, the search function pops up, and immediately starts scanning whatever I type. It's the same pop-up you'd get by hitting CTRL-F. Attempted fixes: Unchecked all the predictive options in Advanced Settings. That didn't work. Reset Chrome settings. That didn't work, and I put my ad-blocker stuff all back up. These attempts to fix it did stop this from happening constantly, and now it happens maybe 20% of the time I click in an open field. Recent changes: Nothing. This is my crappy work laptop. I don't even have Admin Rights. Our IT guy is overloaded, so I doubt this would even get looked at for several days. -- Operating system: Windows 7, 64-bit OS System specs: Intel i5-2430M CPU @ 2.40GHz - Lenovo X220 Laptop (ThinkPad) - 6GB installed, 5.89GB usable Location: USA I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes

I'd try uninstalling Chrome and installing it to a new directory if you can. Also, doing scans using: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/ http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/

Just opening to say that this was still happening, and it turned out the fix, oddly enough, was replacing the battery in my wireless keyboard. Hope that helps anyone with a similar issue.
