Antiviral used to be on streaming and that was a pretty freaky movie, I don't know if it's still available.

Totally would have nailed the gargoyle/vampire lady from the first VHS movie that was recommended last year's October. I really liked it, but everything after isn't the same.

Commie NedFlanders posted:the babadook No! The only thing intense about that movie it that it makes you seriously consider the idea that sometimes it may actually be okay to beat a child. These Final Hours. It's not "scary", but it'll definitely take you to a very dark place. Also Housebound, which isn't scary much either, but it's got a real People Under the Stairs thing going on.

Commie NedFlanders posted:the babadook I think I would like this, but from what I hear it's a very misunderstood movie. Most people thought it was a creature feature, but it's not. The horror has more to do with the lovely emotional situation the characters are in, and the monster sounds like it's some kind of an allegory for losing your love for others thanks to being in a lovely situation or something. We want stuff that goes "Blehh!!", not stuff that makes us have to think!

Yeah, that movie is not subtle at all. People don't dislike it because they don't get it, they don''t like it because it's a bad movie. It most certainly is one of those movies like cabin in the woods where the creators try way too hard to make it creative and "subversive", but can't resist beating you over the head repeatedly with "hey guys look, we're doing this clever thing when other movies do something else". I will give it credit by noting that the only reason I find it so offensively bad is the absurd amount of hype it got on the internet when it was first coming out. Like tons of people saying it's one of the best horror movies ever made, and they weren't even joking. Anyway watch leprechaun or something OP. Last I checked most/all of the first several were on netflix, but I'm in Germany so you might not get them.

It's precisely a character piece about their emotions and if I remember correctly I think it had to do with the real or emotional loss of the father
