Old illustrations/illuminations are awesome. Feel free to include sources but sometimes you just don't need context. An image of Caim a president of hell from the Dictionnaire Infernal George Wither’s Emblem Book ??? Fluid Beef queck Clavis Artis a book about alchemy

Definitely, Doré did good. I also recommend Louis Le Breton's illustrations in the Dictionnaire Infernal

Love the thread idea, I absolutely love old black and white illustrations, I recently bought the divine comedy and the book has gilded pages and a really nice cover, really looking forward to cracking it open. Some Russian lord of the rings.

The Russian LotR reminded me of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCYkE5ouI88 It's a classic Russian adaptation of The Little Mermaid and it's quite good, even if you watch it without the subtitles, so long as you know the basic story. It's all done in a really interesting style and has that unique Soviet weirdness to it.

I agree about underselling it, but I have showed it to other people who seem to be either confused or unimpressed by it because it's not Disney.
