Just a really quick one: can anybody remember the names of the bizarre horror serials Zach Parsons did on the front page? The only one I can remember the name of (and so find) is That Insidious Beast. They're pretty amazing reads, but Zach has done a lot of front-page stuff so they're hard to find.

Are you thinking of the "Instructions for a" series?

That's one of them, thanks! There was another set in a prison I think.

What shall we do with him? A permaban, perhaps? Probate him for a few years? Or...shall we employ a big red custom title? You, the goons of SA, shall decide his fate.

Don't forget the Christmas prequel trilogy (1, 2, 3) and this possibly non-canon entry.

Was it Zach Parsons or a different writer that got pwned by Guy Fieri?

Good horror stories though, the instructions for a series owned

The only Guy Fieri connection to SA that I recall is that he cooked the eggs for Smashmouth.

He uses so many innovative methods to further the story, it's phenomenal!

Go buy his book, Liminal States. He did a pre-release ARG for it that was a lot like Instructions and That Insidious Beast.

Agreed this book and the tie-in serial were both incredibly good and it was always kind of a bummer that even when it was new there wasn't all that much talk about it on the forums.

Liminal states is fantastic as an audiobook as well, though it's over 24 hours long. Pretty dang good, though.

Also, I looked the audible page for it, on a whim...

quote:

The debut novel from Zack Parsons, My Tank is Fight! is a mind-bending journey through time and genres. Beginning in 1874, with a blood-soaked western story of revenge, Liminal States follows a trio of characters through a 1950s noir detective story and 21st-century sci-fi horror. Their paths are tragically intertwined and their choices have far-reaching consequences for the course of American history.

It's certainly one hell of a typo :ohdear:

Edit: I really enjoy Parsons' writing style, what other authors have similar styles?

It's not quite the same, but you might enjoy the work of Charles Stross. A Colder War is a novelette that might be considered similar to some of Zach's stuff so you can give that a test drive.
