For those landscape photos or wherever there is high dark/light contrast, can nicer cameras capture that range of light better than cheaper cameras in one shot or is that HDR magic? Anyway, cool 'fots.

I will admit I rely somewhat heavily on post processing to make the picture look like how I perceived things at the time. Most things get a little saturation, little vibrance, some sharpening, a little higher contrast I need to remember to use my exposure sequence feature and take three pictures, 0, -0.75, +0.75 then use lightroom to HDR wizard it into one actual good picture

Roki B posted:those are neat pictures Yes, I post processed using the Olympus editor to adjust red balance. Those were taken with a big rear end strobe though so my best pictures (in this example, the crab and fireworm) didn't need much. The gurnard, I was too far for the strobe to matter so it took more E: having a camera that takes RAW format is essential for this. If I tried to post process with. jPG or something it would have been hosed let it mellow fucked around with this message at 02:46 on Mar 3, 2017 |

There are a shitton of great pictures in the A/t diving thread , everyone should check it out. Taking pictures underwater, especially deep, is a whole different game

See, that's basically impossible diving. u lose a light band every 33ft/10m deep - first red, then orange, blah blah- and so u need strobes. And they don't reload fast enough. Or u can just throw a red filter on like the go-pro people (including my wife, I'm not making GBS threads on that) do that crab pic was at about 80' deep, so I lost red orange and some yellow just from water plus it was dark. The strobe restored it, it also helped that the crab was in a crevice so things like backscatter didn't matter as much
