Is there a standalone hardware media player with USB input and HDMI output that is able to play .m4v files that are larger than 4GB? (x264 video codec, audio codec varies between AAC and AC-3).

Basically something like this Micca Speck G2 product, but meeting the above conditions. Does something like this exist? Preferably something that's fairly portable, i.e. no computer or network required, etc. TIA

Is the 4 GB file limit due to the use of the FAT32 filesystem?

If so, that Micca Speck G2 device claims to support NTFS, which supports files larger than 4 GB.

I've tried that specific device with a USB stick formatted as both exFAT and NTFS. Both times the device could see the files, but it couldn't play them back.

How about just converting the files to MKV? It's just a different container format so you don't need to reencode, and it's actually meant to handle files larger than 4GB.
