i don't think this is true or lenin moreno wouldn't stand a chance of getting elected in ecuador and lula could win again if he doesn't get imprisoned on corruption charges

A shitty post? This calls for a dance of deduction.
I followed Chavez and Venezuela starting in 2010. I initially supported him but going by what other Venezuelans were saying about him and their country he became indefensible. Venezuela is also a great case of how free elections don't necessarily mean democracy.

"done more to" doesn't mean "done irreparable damage to".

I mean, I can't think of anything else that's poisoned the well more than he has, but hopefully leftism will survive.

Have they destroyed the legislative branch since getting destroyed in 2015? I'm not up to date atm

First (immediately) they banned recognition of several of the newly elected members so they'd maintain their majority. Then the Supreme Court "blanket vetoed" any legislation they passed. Now they've gone beyond that and the Supreme Court has declared any session by the National Assembly at all as "null and void". They effectively no longer exist as a part of the government.

don't forget that the members that were blocked were seats that the ingenious people of Venezuela specifically get in the Amazonian regions so they don't get fully locked out by the majority of settlerrs and get a say in government but maduro and the psvu were all "lol nope" and took away their voice because they were mad about being beat in a fair election

On the one hand we have an inept corrupt windbag who wasted billions of petrodollars instead of making the tiniest effort towards diversification and long term security, who handed over power to an inept thug and corrupt bus driver who's such a great socialist that his party fought to the death to remain patron and landlord to thousands of people crying out for housing redistribution; both of whom despite their shittiness repeatedly won democratic elections, made measurable impacts against poverty and illiteracy

On the other we have some feckless CIA pencil necks who botched at least one coup attempt, phalanxed by a media apparatus that is so brutally biased against PSUV they just make stuff up instead of reporting the already-horrible truth.

The truth . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . is in the middle

Just curious are you from Venezuela?
