Lots of people don’t like the new map, including me. I’ll play it, but it’s worse than the old one.

The top right and left feel totally unused. I'm not sure any circles go those areas? I've seen the bottom left and an east island which was interesting but must be hell if there are no boats left to get you over. It could use more personality, most of it feels the same and only the coast gets some environmental diversity. Was a mistake to leave out any water.

I don't like a lot of the buildings, too many rooms, and how the loot is distributed across much bigger areas now. Vehicles are random and there's a lot of wrecks to make it harder to tell which is not good for the size of the map.

The blue circle moves too fast on the long side and I'd like to see it slowed down so it's not going "better be in a car" speed.

It feels like players get killed off way faster in the new map, which makes for a shittier mid-late game because you don't loving see anyone outside of the very early and very late game. It's ok to have the odd round like that but it feels like those rounds happen way too often, where it's like walking through a ghost town until the last few circles.

It's weird because there doesn't seem to be enough points on the map that should be so desirable that it warrants half the server almost immediately dying off trying to dominate them.

The high density in a few areas comes a lot from the plane path. Sure there are a bunch of named places that the players could cover and spread out over to avoid conflicts but the plane is only going to pass over less than half of them and most players aren't going to spend five minutes in a parachute just to get to the corner of the map.

Plus all the people who like the mad scramble for weapons after landing in the wrestling ring in Pecado to see who can become the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Where do ya'll like to drop on the new map? My squad is looking for a "default" drop spot cuz we hate going somewhere new every match (we went Rozhok every time on the old map). So far we haven't found a place that's A) not super popular and B) has enough loot for a 4 man squad. Any thoughts?

I can't remember the exact name, but I've had a lot of success dropping in the south of Pecado or whatever it's called, and going through the 5 story apartment while people fight over the casino and big warehouse. It's a really central area with decent gear and cover, so you get a great opportunity to pick off or push on weakened squads at the hotspots. I prefer the variety but it works pretty well.

Matazat
Aug 12, 2011

Funny you should mention that, I know the exact building you're talking about because we drop there a lot too. We loot that building and then rotate to the motel and it usually gives us enough loot to get started. But with Pecado being a war zone, we tend to lose 1 or 2 people by the time we're done there which makes winning the match difficult.

I have faith in us, if we don't self-destruct
then you need to stick together more, loot less, and look for enemies. a teammate should be nearby to rez, kill the threat, or provide covering fire until the person can get to cover and be rezzed. Use your numbers advantage in Squads to quickly takeout players that land near your squad before their teammates can react. once you get an ump and lv 1 vest or similar you (and your buddy, remember that stick together part?) should be hunting down those that dropped nearby.

if you are playing squad and don't want to fight early, I would recommend finding places in El Pozo, San Martin, and Los Leones that you can get familiar with and adjust from there based on the plane flightpath. Pozo has the same motel, 6/7 story apartment building, and motel that Pecado does, but with less loot and it's more spread out.

Yea recently died to someone after briefly peeking but they kept shooting at where I was for several seconds and still scoring hits. Demo showed I was well within cover but still taking hits. Would really enjoy region locking people with high pings.

Also I really doubt they would be able to do much about increasing the density of players during the game. Every player within each other’s radius will increase server load. There’s a reason why the game rubber bands like crazy at the beginning, namely because there’s so many people clumped together and fighting at once.

Players actually disappear from view at a little over a kilometer away. The low density that occurs naturally from having a large map and long flight path ends up saving a lot of work for the server. Good luck getting the tick rate up when 100 players are all in a one kilometer square.

Water Treatment and Graveyard are two super underrated drop points that have a high density of loot. Graveyard is also right next to a mine and the big crater town, so you have options after you win/loot it.

It turns out that a game that heavily relies on reaction speed and positioning isn't one that you should let be too forgiving to super high ping individuals.

Even excluding peak chinese hours, it's still the most popular game on steam. Make no/little concessions for high ping individuals, and if they want a better experience they can play on their own servers.

Yeah there are a million legitimate complaints about this game, but fact remains thay if you don’t loving suck, you score in top 5 consistently. That being said, I have no idea what world some people ITT live in where this game is non stop cheaters and high ping shots that shouldn’t work.

I am not dumb, of course I think that this game is really shittily made and would benefit from competent devs, but jesus christ, reading these pages gives insight into some loving bizarro world that I’ve yet to see in my 200 hours. I can’t think of a time I met someone who is positively cheating, or whose ping decided the chicken dinner.
I play daily with a squad that often has one aussie, two europeans, and one american and when we die, we die to being owned. On the other hand, we don’t suck so we win a bunch.

Ease up a bit, and focus on shooting and moving and winning. Stick together, don’t over extend, watch out for the zone.

You guys are loving blind, now that we're back to live server I see 2-3 obvious cheaters a night if I'm playing squad TPP (FPP still pretty cheater-free).

We're not talking about "hurrr he shoot me better" stuff, like obvious as poo poo cheating like killing an entire squad almost instantaneously with full auto headshots from an AKM at 200m+ range, no-scope headshots with the kar on the run (not like one lucky shot, like insta gibbing anyone who poked their head out for even a second... while running), shooting the outside of the building where your head would be as you walk around inside a house.

Everything after the bolded sentence is all cool and whatnot (tho a little aggressive), but how do you say that 95% of the player base sucks? Isn't that illogical? Consistently getting into the top 5% of a game is an awfully high bar to set for "not sucking".

But yeah, people whine about cheaters/the refs in every competitive game or sport, it's what humans do. I've just learned to tune out most of the whining about cheaters and "game breaking" bugs (that never break the game). Gamers love to bring up the one time 3 weeks ago that they died to what they thought might have been a bug, and claim the game is broken because of it, all while continuing to play it for 5hrs a day.

I play mostly TPP, both solo and squads, and I haven't seen an obvious cheater in weeks. Both live and test.

You claim to see 2 or 3 every night.

It could be that you are just unlucky and I've been fortunate enough to get into matches that just don't have cheaters on them. Alternatively, I could be lovely enough at shooters to just not recognize when someone is using hacks (a distinct possibility, I'm...not great. Hell I can barely consistently get into the top 5 every single match, which is apparently the new standard for "not sucking"). Another alternative is that you're somewhat overestimating how often you see hacks - you're going to remember every time you die to an obvious hack, and you're going to focus on that and blow it up in your mind so that all you remember are the games you got hacked and forget about the 25 matches you had in between those games.

Probably it's some combination of those three alternatives. What I do know, however, is that not focusing on how many times I see hackers allows me to not see so many hackers and just enjoy the game. Your way seems a bit more stressful and frustrating.

Sucking is a problem and lots of people just get mad when they lose legit, but there are a mass of cheaters again since 1.0 . And I dont think thats even arguable. Whether its 1% of your deaths or 25% of deaths is hard to say, but to say its not happening is just ridiculous. Cheating might be the biggest problem this game faces right now.

I dont think being high latency is an advantage in this game like COD/Halo on XBOX360. I went from having a historically bad ping to a below average ping and my killing has improved dramatically.

There is a huge difference between 1% and 25% that can't be just handwaved away. 1% is the absolute bare minimum level of cheating you can expect from even the most well run competitive game with the best anti-cheat programs. 25% makes a game literally worthless to play. Cheating is certainly happening in PUBG, probably at a higher than average rate, but nowhere near a game breaking level, at least for me. It's an insanely popular game and is going to attract alot of attention from hackers and cheaters.

I don't think cheating is a huge problem for the game, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's happening at all. I don't focus much attention on it, so maybe I don't notice the times I've died to a hacker. Which is fine tbh, I still enjoyed the game blissfully unaware of it, and just get motivated to do better next game. Or at least not to throw myself off a cliff next game.
