I have one PC wired into my Linksys WRT54GL with an ethernet cable, and use the wifi for a 2nd PC and an android tablet. The internet speed on the wired PC is always consistently great. The wifi is terrible on the other 2 devices. I've tried switching channels in the router settings to no avail. There is no abnormal physical obstruction that would cause this. When I first started using the wifi it worked great, for maybe a year or more, then the speed started drastically dropping at random times - now it's almost constant. The signal looks normal on the wifi analyzer app. I even bought a new router (same model) and the identical thing happens. I thought maybe there was some mystery frequency interference, but even when I put the tablet a few inches from the router, the speed is still lovely. Any ideas? Thanks. Edit: maybe 10-15% of the time the wifi signal is fine, but that too is random. beatlegs fucked around with this message at 20:18 on Mar 26, 2017 |

It doesn't seem reasonable to expect decent performance from an ancient Wireless-G router. Pick up a decent Wireless-AC router that meets your needs.
