I know this is a topic of grey area combined with a constantly moving target of government intervention, but the recent post on Horse Betting got me wondering about the current status of online sports betting.

Would appreciate if anyone could provide their current understanding of each of these items:
Current Status of Legality
Recent Crackdowns / Sites going belly up and taking your money
Good/Bad/Indifferent experiences
Are DFS (daily fantasy sports) being treated differently than your standard sports betting on a particular team to win/lose?
Funding your bets (I.E. can you use Paypal, or is it all Bitcoin or Egold or something)

My main personal interest would be to bet on certain pro football teams to win/lose this season. Granted, that's not going to happen until September so things may be totally mixed up by then. Curious to hear anyone's experience from last year.

Edited to add - feel free to add any information about other kinds of online betting - such as casino games - to this post. Thanks!
