You are a courtier — a minor noble of no particular importance save for your blue blood — to your liege the Grand Duke, who holds the titles for two duchies and five counties within the greater Kingdom. You are a a cynical woman, well versed in the affairs of the men at court. While attending the feast of the local count, you are approached by the Chancellor of the realm: the official head diplomat representing your liege in matters both domestic and foreign. He is reputed as an honest, just, and temperate man, but also ambitious and envious of others and their power. He reminds you that the so-called 'Grand Duke' is but a babe of 2 years old, and that the Queen Mother — a foreigner wed by the deceased Petty King for her beauty rather than her wits — is the true power in the realm. The chancellor, after an appropriate time spent sharing local gossip and inviting you to events only slightly above your station, presents you with a proposal: to back his plot to usurp the regency of the Queen Mother, and thereby effectively give to him the power of the realm.

What say you?

Before choosing, you may consider/request further information about : the Grand Duke; the Queen Mother; the Chancellor; the Realm; the Kingdom; vassals; other courtiers — but the hesitation will be noticed.

Options
A. Immediately support the chancellor
B. Immediately refuse the chancellor
C. Intrigue! — One of the above, plus options:
C1. Confirm your support, but inform the Queen Mother; e.g., Snitch
C2. Refuse your support, but promise not to snitch; i.e., Sympathize
D. Hesitate! — Recall your knowledge, or consult your advisor, concerning any of the following:
- D1. Grand Duke and his lineage
- D2. Queen Mother and her plots
- D3. Chancellor and his plots
- D4. Realm of Your Liege
- D5. Kingdom and its position
- D6. Vassals — the likely opinions of powerful, landed nobles of the realm
- D7. Courtiers — the likely opinions of landless nobles-in-name-only
E. Write-in votes

Rules
1. Votes should be typed in bold text — and shall last for one day, 24 hours, after the decision is presented. A simple majority will be taken, and the winner determined from that.
2. Each poster presenting a vote represents a thought in the character's mind. Upon the sole request of any given poster, so indicated by placing ++two plus signs++ around their bolded vote, the poster may increase the priority of their vote by an amount not disclosed to the players but known to me; however, such a vote represents a DESIRE in the mind of the character, which will be assigned an honorific even if it fails. This will lead to "interesting outcomes," which may be good or bad, regardless of the outcome of the vote.
3a. If at any time the vote is won by a DESIRE, then the effects of that desire will occur AND will be disclosed in plain words in the post following; however;
3b: if at any time the DESIRE vote is second OR third in total, then the effects of that desire MAY OR MAY NOT occur AND WILL NOT be disclosed.
4. Plain text will hencefort represent things that occur; italics shall represent thoughts of the character; various combinations of bold, italic, and underline shall represent a hierarchy of concepts which the players are encouraged to decyper.

Hopefully there is interest in this. :)

Assuming this is an inquiry about the Chancellor; in which case (you and everyone else learns):

Chancellor Doughty is reputed as an honest, just, and temperate man, but also ambitious and envious of others and their power.

1. By law he is the Baron of Churton, owning a town in the Grand Duke's county of Muistead.
2. By custom he has great prestige among the Realm, affording him great influence — others are likely to join him.

--- You have chosen to hesitate once (+1), and the Chancellor has noticed you mulling over your options. --
