This is good, thanks. It's not that common I come across good things I haven't already read (that aren't ongoing, at least).

edit: The cultural differences between the way death is addressed are kinda interesting. Stuff that takes a "it's literally The End and you gotta make peace with that" approach aren't very common in Western culture.

A silent voice is good, but I don't think it's really a tearjerker. It becomes a fairly standard romance after the very beginning.

I alone can see through the media bias.

I'm also stupid on a scale that can only be measured in Reddits.
U know shits about to get really intensely miserable when youve been watching an already super miserable anime and something like this pops up.

EDIT for another quip: saikano OR: how i learned to stop worrying and love the little girl bomb

I've never really been a big fan of Saikano, because it's basically the tragedy version of a horror movie with a bunch of jump scares and cringe-inducing violence. It's definitely sad, but in a way that feels manipulative and doesn't really make me feel like I gained anything from the experience.

I honestly dont remember a lot of it. Saw it a long time ago. But I remember liking the theme of inevitability. In most fiction LOVE would FIND A WAY, but in life its more often the case that you find yourself powerless in the face of circumstances regardless of how good and pure your intentions are. I felt it mirrored this truth fairly well.

From what I recall, your critique is perfectly on point though.

It's definitely manipulative and lays it on thick, but it worked for me and the ending was touching in its way.

Pretty much the entirety of her short story collection A Drunken Dream is gold, which is fitting considering the golden cover. Iguana Girl and The Willow Tree are also pretty heart-wretching, but yeah, Hanshin will put your heart through the wringer.
