Wikipedia posted:The show stars the Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol as "Nirvanna the Band," two hapless lifelong best friends and roommates, who engage in a series of complex publicity stunts around their home city of Toronto in the hopes of landing a gig at The Rivoli, despite the fact that they have never actually written or recorded a single song, nor taken any other steps to get their band ready. Was just introduced to this show over the weekend, and I didn't see a thread for it. Certainly earns the comparisons to Nathan for You with its avant-garde use of real people, but has a narrative of sorts that's very low-stakes and pop culture-centric. I thought it was funny as hell and really clever.

I've only seen the first episode, but I'm pretty sure I then went past the venue they try to get booked at in Toronto when I visited there in the summer which was fun.

It's an amazing show that Viceland almost doesn't want you to watch. But you should, because holy poo poo, it goes to weird and extremely specific places.
