I was a small child in 2001, and it's always been weird not caring about 9/11 when everyone older than me has a really personal attachment to the event, to the point where it still defines modern politics.

To me and my peer group, 9/11 has always been a punchline of jokes, and thinking back on it the main reason the jokes were funny is because the adults found them so offensive.
