How dare you! It is a specially designed aerodynamic cape that keeps her from tipping over, much like the spoiler on a race car. Without it her legs outrun her torso and she ends up on her back with her feet pedaling furiously in the air.

Even though it deviated from the real world, the ending was super heartwarming and all the constant real world references make it so much better when you know them.

Although some become odd like Suzuka & Spe being half-siblings IRL
