I'm glad Shin won, but I was a little grossed out that the country singing shitkicker beat the kid singer. Yeah, kid singers are played out as gently caress, but still.

The finale is worth a watch on demand if you haven't seen it for, if nothing else, the judges' sheer disbelief that the two comedians being put up against each other was real (and not a "Neither of you!"), and thus that one of Courtney or Michael wasn't going to make it into the top 5. You don't get to see much of them, but it looks like they honestly can't believe that what's happening is real. (Bonus prize for the wave of audience boos when Michael is first out from that group.)

Honestly I'm glad that Courtney placed so low. Their acts both got stale but at least Micheal tried new things. Her Janis Joplin rendition was pretty bad. Maybe a third time will be the charm for her?

Trip report: went to see Jon Dorenbos' stage show tonight. It was a fun show that they said will be an HBO special. He also mentioned an added detail why he picked the trick he performed in the AGT finals. I would not have shelled out money for Grace Van Der Waal though.

I know I'm late but I'm pleasantly surprised that Shin Lim won it, and that my prediction of quirky music girl Courtney, a tried and tested formula, did not win. Granted she was my favorite singer of the bunch, but got I hate singers on AGT. Well, Darci Lynn was ok but at least she had a gimmick.

Darci Lynn was the best and deserved to win, imo. Courtney needed to mix it up and do something different, but she just did the same old thing for the 3rd or 4th time in a row and it cost her.
