POOL IS CLOSED posted:Happy new year, aliens! An update- currently waiting on a few new bugfixes to get pushed through on the build. If people want, however, I can try and give us a little run through the current state of Stars in Shadow while we wait, with either Humanity (which I'm not guaranteed to win with, by a long shot) or the Phidi Combine (more of the same of what you might expect from me), as people prefer. Or I can wait on Stars in Shadow until I do my whole Stellaris run, either way. E: Alternately, the Ashdar Colonials would likely be easier than the Humans, something I could stand to play, and a bit different than my standard relative to the Phidi Combine. nweismuller fucked around with this message at 23:28 on Jan 17, 2019 |

I certainly don't mind more Nweis LP, but LPs can run for pretty long which is liable to leave this hanging for a good long while if you commit to something else. I'd wait and see if the Paradox folks can knit Le Guin/Megacorp into something functional for a while yet, at least.

Shame to see this on hiatus, but at least it gave me the chance to catch up. I hope the newest expansion is balanced and bug fixed soon so you can continue.nweismuller posted:The Ox'Braxi Confederation was an assembly of many smaller political units, generally elective republics with the vote limited to the aristocracy, which formed approximately the top ten percent of the species population. nweismuller posted:The Solar Alliance was a trading bloc and defensive alliance first established in the early twenty-second century AD (or late 1500s IR, by the Daeran calendar)by the Earth nations of the United States of America, the Republic of China (itself formed by the peaceful reformation of a dictatorship known as the People's Republic of China that abandoned its founding ideology), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Commonwealth of Australia, Canada, the Swiss Confederation, the Commonwealth of Poland, and the State of Japan. I'm not sure if I should comment on the fact that Poland was a founding member of the Solar Alliance to my great surprise (everyone forgets about Poland, even Kerry), or that Poland can in fact into space in this game. So, have both.

The endgame crisis bugs I've been waiting on seem to have been fixed in the current beta update. I'm still waiting on a change to the population growth model- they've promised that they're intending to revisit the model in patches soon, given how immersion-breaking it has been for so many people. And yes, Poland can indeed into space.

Minor update: it appears there will be a major patch released by the end of the month, and patching in the interim has fixed up a number of the more egregious issues in the game as it stood. Once the patch is released and some basic compatibility testing run on the small suite of mods joebloe and I have put together (to introduce Noble Republics, patch a number of bugs easily accessible to my fixing via modding, and to remove Shared Burden from the game), I'll prepare to launch Adventures of the Daera Version 2.0: This Time With Corporate Authority.

General Revil posted:No need for that. Just give it a malus to food production (like -90%). Heh, if I were to handle it THAT way, I'd need to make it require Fanatic Authoritarian and Dictatorial Authority, rather than Fanatic Egalitarian. (Dictatorial, because it's 'Democratic'. Or at least 'not actually a hereditary monarchy, they actually sort of hate hereditary monarchies'.) nweismuller fucked around with this message at 07:04 on Feb 21, 2019 |

I mean I would argue that if actual Space Megacorps can work to create Utopia, then can Space Communism also

How exactly is that offensive? You would deny even the possibility? I don't see the reasoning, here.

Bloodly posted:How exactly is that offensive? You would deny even the possibility? I don't see the reasoning, here. Not a single "people's republic" in the real world is an actual democracy, but rather authoritarianism under a threadbare disguise so transparent it's not even worth bothering to dispute. (DPRK and PRC being two examples.)

I mean, if the sole point of contention is that the Civic causes the Egalitarian alien government be called something that generally isn't very democratic IRL, and we're doing modding anyway, I'd rather the resultant government be named to something different, like 'Fully Automated Luxury Socialist Rebublic In Space', instead of removing the Civic entirely. Don't take my Communist Snails away from me Nweis

What Aerdan said, with the added bonus that it was a particularly murderous totalitarian ideology of the 20th Century. It's offensive in the same way and for the same reasons a civic that created Fanatic Xenophile 'National Socialism' seeking friendship with all that used a swastika as a symbol would be.

Patch date is slated for March 7th; I will take a short time afterwards for mod testing, after which I should launch the New and Improved LP using Megacorp.

Delays in mod production on my end have led me to decide to launch a Stars in Shadow run before I restart a Stellaris LP. Link to the LP here: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3884979
