Hey Lowtax! I have very fond memories of some childrens books, and while it may not be really in the spirit of the thread I want to suggest a few: The Ultimate Book of Cross Sections. While a bit dated, I spent hundreds of hours flipping through this book as a a child. The drawings are intricate, detailed, and well annotated. Descriptions and explanations of what's going on is in simple enough language for children to grasp, while laced with historical tidbits to delight parent and child alike. https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Book-Cross-sections-DK-Publishing/dp/0789411954 Pretty much everything from Stephen Biesty is amazingly detailed. Take your pick of Castles, Ships, the Human Body, or "Absolutely Everything." Wonderful stuff for children. https://www.amazon.com/Stephen-Bies...NFYJ6JDVBJFDCRH Another classic of childrens learning books is The Way Things Work, by David Macaulay. Utilizing Mammoth power, the author explains everything from the origins of Pythagorean theorem, to how water displacement works. There's even a workthrough of how a manual transmission clutch disc works. A frankly amazing book, I think it should be in the library of any parent. https://www.amazon.com/Way-Things-Work-David-Macaulay/dp/0395428572/ref=sr_1_3?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1531627796 Probably the the most amusing for toddlers is Alan Snow's 'How Dogs Really Work!" A short paperback describing essential functions such as "the sniffer" and "the poop chute", the author breaks down what it takes to make dogs happy. He also wrote one about cats! https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0007309910/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i3 I hope this is vaguely useful to you!
