Yeah they set him up as "the nice one" even if he put up the hothead facade. Like in season 1 they show him super outwardly angry around CC when Darlene is late getting back, but then when she does get back and admits she fell asleep watching movies with her client, he just calmly asks a few questions and shrugs. The scene was well-foreshadowed and they did a good job making it tense regardless but I was pretty confident she'd be out and reasonably happy at the end of the season. Lori on the other hand...I'm glad she's alive.

Yeah I don’t think he had what it took to keep it up in the years between seasons 1 and 2. He probably retired or went to jail in place of one of his girls or something like that. You could say the Hispanic pimp in season 2 (I forget his name) was his replacement and was clearly much more cutthroat and ruthless in what a pimp should be.

Rodney's smack addiction and hair brained schemes led to Ralph Macchio being a hero cop and keeping the deuce dirtier for longer. The Wire was full of stuff like this, only it explored it more. The last episode of the Deuce had Sgt D'Angelo Barksdale straight up explain what was going on. Very frustrating. More time for Aileen's boyfriend not respecting her (and it not affecting her) We never found out who was shooting at Vince did we? What a weird scene altogether.

I thought Matty the Horse claimed responsibility on behalf of his guys (which is why he threw Rudy the porn deal as a make-up present.) Which, speaking of consequences, probably saved Harvey and Eileen's asses. I doubt the mob guys would have been so understanding about the double-selling if Matty hadn't owed a favor to Rudy anyhow.

Just finished burning through the second season. Bad The new intro song, Elvis Costello I think?, loving sucks and doesn't fit with the show at all. All the side stuff with Paul the gay bartender is boring and pointless CC should have been killed at least 2 episodes earlier I don't know if its her acting or her character but I hate Maggie Gylenhall/Candy, loved seeing her dad tell her to gently caress off Also can't stand Abby and her high horse moral bullshit Killing Ashleigh off screen only really works if she was still tricking Good Larry was loving awesome, and his goodbye with Darlene was great stuff Irene is awesome The movie making scenes were really fun Leon is back and awesome as ever Officer Alston is still awesome Emily Meade is acting the poo poo out of this show James Franco still killing it

I liked her in the first season but I could only watch so much of her being a completely and utterly negligent parent and acting like the world/her parents owe her everything for no reason. Vince is also a terrible parent but he gets to offset it by being the good guy in just about every other scenario.
