As a kid I'd put holes in the wall with my knees and elbows as I slept. I remember none of it but reading up I guess it's A Thing with kids sometimes.

You're probably having night terrors. My most common recurring night terror is simply being obliterated in nuclear fire, just flash of white and the walls disintegrate around me moments before I go too, and a deafening horrible screeching roar that continues for a moment after I properly wake up. Always super sweaty and my heart going a mile a minute, too, sucks.

If it's caused by PTSD I've got about half a dozen things that it could stem from but who knows. It's always seemed like an actual repeated dream, rather than the sparse symptoms described in that wiki page. It happens about once every few weeks to couple months I think. Weird that it happens to a lot of folks.

I try and sleep on my back with a pillow under my knees but I have to constantly switch between sides and back to fall asleep. I wake up a bunch each night
