Figured I'd check in and see if anyone has some cool manhua to recommend! Manhua (漫画) is the Chinese version of Manhwa which is the Korean version of Manga which is the Japanese version of the funny pages. Most of them are in a full color vertical scrolling webtoon format. I started reading it recently to practice learning Chinese since the context of the funny pictures makes it easier to figure out unfamiliar phrases and what not.  I've just caught up to the latest chapter of Tower into the Clouds (百层塔） which is a fairly stupid isekai type thing but relatively easy to read for me. There is an awkwardly translated English version if anyone wants to share in Mao Li's reckless journey to ascend the 100 story tower. Can he brave bandits, ogres, ambiguously gay gorillas, smelly otaku, and the terrifying nine legged spider demon??? There's a lot of really immature humor but I loled occasionally. Not sure what to start on next, seems like theres lots of isekai, lots of historical romance stuff, and a fair amount of horny waifu harem content to choose from. Some random titles: I Am A Killer Maid Princess in the Prince's Harem The Boy in the All-Girls School After Transformation, Mine and Her Wild Fantasy Anyone got some good stuff, here's the place to share it!

Thanks, read a few chapters... cats do be like that. I was thinking of checking out Ravages of Time cause Three Kingdoms stuff is cool but it's incredibly long even though it's only 25% through the source material.

Theyre all bad because they abuse the vertical webtoon format to put in absurd amounts of white space. Its like they all think theyre Tite Kubo. Even Tite Kubo shouldnt be doing that poo poo e: Whoa I thought I was in GBS for some reason, probably because Jose was posting. Ok, reread what I posted but pretend I said it nicer.

If you're reading on a phone which is what that format is mostly intended for, the white space makes more sense as a way to pace the panel action out as you scroll down. I read a lot of webtoons and really barely notice at this point.

Yeah, it makes sense in the context of the comic being one long thing you just scroll down, rather than something split into distinct pages. edit: Some webtoons have gotten fancy with the format and included music and sound effects that trigger when you scroll past certain points.

Seconding Feng Shen Ji. The story isn’t always amazing but the art is incredible(and full color!). I was gonna recommend Shin Angyo Onshi but I learned that’s actually Korean.

yeah I thought I was reading more that were Chinese but I double checked and p much all the ones I'm reading are Korean other than Cat Ears and 19 Days. Tamen De Gushi is one if you like slow romance with girls who want to kiss each other, I'm not reading it but it's fairly popular around the forum. Mosspaca Advertising Department is a gag comic by the authors of that one and 19 Days plus a third guy on their team; the characters are their own personas and it is goofy and a little weird.

Blades of the Guardians About a badass mercenary and his kid and how they ended up escorting a mission to topple a dynasty. All set in the final years of the Sui Dynasty with all kinds of shenanigans and politicking between the Chinese and various central asian kingdoms. In any case that art of the really fat horse looks incredible. I started Feng Shen Ji and it's slow going cause theres an awful lot of  but it definitely seems like violent trash in a good way.

Watching the characters age in ravages is a cool thing. Zilong looking real ragged compared to how he was in the Dong Zhuo arc. The chapter where Liu Bei threw his son to the ground during the Battle of Changban was another one of my favourites. That, and whenever Guan Yu clowns on anyone.
