 there's already an aoc thread, and idk who those ladies in the back are, but w/e  this is a thread for recently-elected democrats who are seemingly less lovely than the general tendency of the party. follow their congressional adventures and place bets on when they will be fully corrupted, co-opted, assassinated, or just rip off the mask to reveal they were a koch brother the whole time a few notable examples:  rashida tlaib - MI-13 - daughter of palestinian immigrants, was state rep from 2009-2014, won her house seat after losing the special election to replace john conyers (her primary opponent got to hold the seat for like 60 days, lol). dsa member, supporter of bds, and scandalous and unrepentant user of the word motherfucker  ilhan omar - MN-5 - somali-american who came to the us as a refugee, became state rep in 2017, then replaced keith ellison when he ran for minnesota ag. had to force congress to change its backwards-rear end rules just so she could wear a headscarf. critical of israel and of course now being attacked as an anti-semite by the likes of bari weiss  ayanna pressley - MA-13 - pressley was on the boston city council for 10 years before she upset incumbent mike capuano in what is the most progressive (and only minority-majority) district in the state. seemingly the most succ of the three listed here, but as one of her constituents, i've been pleasantly surprised so far. there's still time.

there are some good examples in New York state government. not our governor, of course, but there are a few new state senators that refused to take real estate money and beat some real corrupt incumbents in the dem primary. if you're in DSA you've probably heard of Julia Salazar, but Zellnor Myrie and Jessica Ramos also didn't take their bribes, and i think you can include Robert Jackson, John Liu, and Alessandra Biaggi in that group as well. also we have Gustavo Rivera, who really wants to get the New York Health Act passed
