Huawei has a foldable phone and it's likely to be significantly cheaper than 2,000 earth dollars so Samsung will get owned (again).

while foldable phones seem totally silly now, I don't doubt that apple will find an actual use for the technology at some point, or just do the whole folding thing better.

but seeing as iPhones have only gotten thicker the last few generations, I don't think we'll ever have an iPhone-sized device that can be unfolded into a tablet.

the new product : a foldable phone with 4 notches and 15 cameras

i was thinking that folding screens might be good for cars

instead of the dumb lovely way cars have dashboards that look like someone jammed an ipad into it, you could have a small screen for like song names and the time or whatever

but then, you could push a button and it would unfold for like navigation or some poo poo

it would be cool for a few years until it breaks and you cant get a new one from the manufacturer and the only place u can get one is a junkyard or whatever but they are all broken in the same way so then its just entirely useless

"check out my new phone" i say, as i produce a strange box from my pocket which i then struggle to unfold, finally creakily unfolding it most of the way as the screen flashes and spins around as the software poorly adjusts to the new screen size

a phone that unfolds into an e-reader would be OK. simply having a larger screen doesn't solve a whole lot for me. at least an e-ink display is easy on the eyes and easy on battery.

 Huawei Mate X is US$2,600. With less screen they still managed to be more expensive than Samsung. At this rate if Apple release a foldable phone it will probably be the cheapest on the market.

how can we not talk about family
when family's all that we got?
a foldable phone is a good idea and will be useful, in 5-10 years when materials science advances enough to make it as slim as current smartphones with a better battery life (and better software integration)

the killer feature of the Huawei device is you can put a document inside and fold it up and walk out of the building

You can tell LG have been cutting back as their foldable phone is basically a Nintendo 3DS.
