Problem description:
Summary: Need a new battery, and power adapter - Dell do not seem to sell this battery anymore, is there anywhere else reputable to get one from? Also a new power adapter, ideally one that won't break again.
Laptop purchased in 2017.
Has had some issues, Dell replaced the motherboard under warranty in early 2018 due to a sound issue.
They noted that the battery was flagged for replacement but wouldn't replace under warranty, calling it a 'consumable'.
The last three weeks, the battery has been completely unable to charge, and when the adapter is disconnected, will immediately cease operating.
Have replaced the power adapter multiple times, due to failure of the strain relief section of the plug (exposing the three insulated cables, the insulation eventually cracking). Have had multiple laptops, including an XPS15, since 2010, that use this model of adapter, and it has always had this issue.
Last night, a crackling sound came from the device. Disconnected immediately. Cable is also cracking again.

Attempted fixes:
Opened up the laptop, disconnected and removed the battery, which was slightly swollen, but had not vented/caught fire.
