i was playing 2k20 myleague last night and the first bucket the spurs made against me was a pretty early-shotclock jakob poetl pick and pop 3 jakob poetl, the guy with 3 careers 3 pointers attempted edit: sorry, misread his bballref page. hes attempted 2, not 3

I remember Jaxson Hayes being the brickmaster early in NBA 2K20. He had 25 3pt rating, but over 50 3pt tendency. He would toss several bricks whenever I played the Pelicans. They must have eventually fixed him though, because my later MyPlayers haven't had that issue with him.

I gained my irrational hatred for CP3 by constantly landing on his teams in each iteration of NBA2k I bought for some reason. All CP3 does in these games is toss alley-oops that no CPU completes ever so it's just instant turnovers. Since 2k obviously hasn't changed anything since 2013 this is a problem that still exists to this day.

I had a look at Hayes and they "fixed" him by increasing his 3pt rating to mid 50s. So a player in his rookie season that put up only four 3pt attempts in 64 games, but in 2K puts up well over 200 attempts per season. The "fix" just changed his 3pt% from <.1 to ~.27.

man, i'm only 45 seconds in, but lots of funny stuff so far - "You can see so much new content in the game this year" as Allie Laforce delivers a sideline report with the exact same camera pans and actor movements as david aldridge in 2k20 - "I'm just so impressed with what the team did" as jrue and BI are in perfect animation sync for 10 seconds what did they even work on past the lighting and re-doing the rosters? e: oh they added contact alley oops Katana_Warrior fucked around with this message at 01:02 on Oct 30, 2020 |

Yeah there's absolutely nothing in that video that really shows any sort of generational leap. I was kind of impressed by Ingram's model but then noticed Jrue locked into the exact same animation loop lol. The camera they use is exceptionally awful and this is coming from a diehard broadcast camera player. They keep talking about foot planting...but haven't they been saying the exact same thing for years and people are still sliding all over the place..

A friend convinced me to play 2k21 when it was free on epic games and I liked it which I didn’t expect. Now I have almost a full season under my belt in my career and a 90 overall shooty/playmaker boy and I’m I think I’m approaching being done with the game, which is maybe good since PC is getting last gen and I’d bet it won’t be much of an upgrade. My buddy showed me 20 and while they get repetitive there’s so much more cool stuff with interviews and pre/post game cutscenes that 21 doesn’t do. I guess again, it gets old, but his game just feels cooler. I say I’m done with the game because I’m playing on superstar difficulty (I’ve heard HOF is bullshit but I’ll try it I guess) and I’m currently 2nd-5th behind Wilt Chamberlain in points in a game, I’ve broken the 3 point game record twice, and feel like I’ve completely broken the AI defense. My character is fast and I can literally just find the right size gap if defenders are even near the perimeter and get a dunk by just holding sprint. Again this is a shooty playmaker guy, so my only finishing badge at all is bronze pro-touch and I never activate ankle breaker or tight handles despite having both, since I don’t need to dribble beyond a straight sprint. At this point I’ve given up 3 point quest with it’s sometimes embarrassing dice rolls (oh it was .05 seconds away from a green and wide open? Brick! 20% 3pt for the game!) and now I just score 50 in the paint with absolutely no build for that play style beyond 65 driving dunk and 75(?) driving layup. It’s so weird. I had 14 dunks against the Lakers. I don’t think I’m good at the game, it feels like I’ve internalized some weird AI bug where I can identify when a dead sprint short circuits them or draws a foul. I now see why the game’s thread is a meager 12 pages, but I’m hoping, somehow, I can recapture the brief super high point of closely contested games that made me keep playing it in the first place. But anyway it sure doesn’t look like that is coming to PC in 2022 since we’re still getting last gen and it probably isn’t there in nextgen either, given their track record.
