Though I remember Condemned 1 was a classic hobo-punching simulator while Condemned 2 was nonsense. It's odd looking at any one studio's output and see they did entire series one after another that are hugely different in direction: Insomniac did Spider-Man after Resistance, Monolith did FEAR before Shadow of Mordor, Naughty Dog did two cartoon-mascots before going into Indiana Jones and Oscar bait. The now-dead Irrational followed SWAT 4 with Bioshock and Valve devolved from shooters to releasing a P2W card-game to show their utter disdain for players. Ooh man, that is a lot of first person shooters from that gen I think. I want to say Battlefield 3, but I am pretty sure not a single one of those games actually delivered on this.

Hi thread it’s Halloween night, I’m drinking Dogfish Pumpkin Ale and I decided to start playing the Resident Evil 2 remake which I got off the steam sale. It is cool and good and loving terrifying playing in a dark room with headphones.

Its not very good. Like, it is a painful transitory state between CoD shooters and Action Shooting and it just doesnt work and also it has godawful unskippable cutscenes and some absolutely arbitrary difficulty rocket launches

It seems like a pretty boring way to advertise your FPS though, by saying that your FPS has bullets in it and that your bullets will hit stuff when you fire your gun.

Resistance is one of like three shooter series in existence to actually have fun, interesting weapons and not the standard generic pistol/AR/shotgun that everything else uses. It gets major points for that. Resistance 2 hosed everything up by ditching campaign co-op for some dumb role-based horde mode. Resistance 3 was good again, though.
