Papa Was A Video Toaster

wherein i (and possibly you) slowly go crazy listening to discuss the merits of different recordings of This Must Be The Place (from here on referred to as TMBTP) originally released in 1983 by the Talking Heads.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsccjsW8bSY
this recording has Byrne singing a little bit too detached, as we'll find later there are more emotional takes to be had.

in my opinion the highest expression of TMBTP is Mile Fisher's 2009 cover. with its chopped vocal beat and impeccable American Psycho video it's what sent me down this hole. if you want to catch the virus listen to this about 10 times in a row

it's just so much poppier. i love it.

next time we'll discuss another Talking Heads performance and another cover

next up we have an absolutely stunning folk cover by i don't think they're a band but youtube page lists the performers from left to right as Brady Enslen, Benjamin Longman, Justine Vandergrift, Polly Virr
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVBtRsvZXOY
it suffers a bit from the recording venue but otherwise a great performance

edit: forgot i promised a Talking Heads video as well

this is from the stop making sense concert/movie thing, idk. i'm not that actually that well versed in Talking Heads. I just really like this song.
this is probably my favourite Talking Heads recording so far. Byrne really puts his whole heart into and then dances with a lamp
