my two big machines are within like 5% teraflops or whatever. what i do know is that my ryzen has more cores so it's cooler, but my intel has big/little and most of the time lives out of the latter, so it's cooler

last night my desktop just suddenly dumped to black screen and rebooted. not even a BSOD. after i logged back in i checked the event viewer and saw a hardware event with "cache hierarchy error" i haven't made any hardware changes or BIOS updates in years. wonder if the memory controller on my 5800X is starting to die. guess i'll see if it happens again.

Pittsburgh Fentanyl Cloud posted:https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/amd-and-raytheon-team-up-for-advanced-chip-packaging-for-military-applications quote:Under the contract, Raytheon will package state-of-the-art commercial devices from industry partners like AMD to create a compact microelectronics package that will convert radio frequency energy to digital information with more bandwidth and higher data rates. The integration will result in new system capabilities designed with higher performance, lower power consumption and reduced weight. that sounds like a Xilinx thing altera and Xilinx still basically like entirely separate entities from intel/amd tech wise. it certainly is confusing when you see something like “AMD launches new ARM SoC” and it’s about an MPSoC

xilinx also have an awesome video hardware encoder, which is ironic when amf is the worst garbage out there

the Xilinx acquisition was only in 2022 though, it’ll definitely take some time for anything to make it to silicon
