It's like... I think it's really cool idea, but like you said, the base game looks like something I've been wanting for a long time and finally someone makes it but there's a twist.

Any tips on roleplaying Dune in Bannerlord? I can accept not having the worms but are there any other must have mods?

New game called Bellwright just released. Gives me major Mount and Blade vibes, and offers shared coop with shared money and shared settlement management. Looks very interesting. Has the jank, too. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1812450/Bellwright/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUihllRei4E

*Simpsons voice* That's bad.

they released last oasis too soon, like...twice. Legendarily bad launch of a game with great potential, and they bled players like crazy until it basically zeroed out. Then they relaunched the game a while later with more focus on PVE....but it wasn't ready on either a content or a design front either, and they bled out again.

Manor lords just went out on early access. I thought I remembered someone mentioning it in the thread, but I can't find it.

Manor Lords is decent but it's much closer to a traditional city builder than it is to Bannerlord. Combat is important but it's not at all the main focus. Before it launched the dev even put up a big disclaimer on the store page saying "this is not a total war-like or a mount & blade-like, please dont buy it expecting those"

Installed Bannerlord for to play for the first time since near EA launch. Grabbed some mods too, including one that lets me just join a lord’s ear and as a regular soldier. Starting out as a recruit (with standard issued gear even!) and potentially able to be promoted to tier 2+ if I fight well and earn soldier XP. You don’t have to use the state-issued gear and can swap your own personal equipment back in, but it kinda goes against the spirit of things if your an Imperial Recruit in heavy armor with a bigass sword (absolutely brought my own basic shield and some javelins though). You even get daily pay and a daily task that can give XP in certain fields. You might also get assigned or offered jobs if things are slow. It’s been fun so far. My first Warbond I joined raided a village and shortly after got crushed by a larger army, who apparently released me as worthless. So I wandered back to friendly territory and hooked up with a another unit. So far I’ve yet to not get KO’d in the handful of battles I’ve been in. I should probably turned the self damage down from 100% until I get used to the game again lol.

I also got a mod that lets you build your own custom standard/elite troop tree pair and able to recruit them from any town or city you enter. https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/3164

Finally got a game going and playing with that "My Little Warband" mod is fun. I've got the beginnings of a custom troop tree with my little mercenary band. So far they're basically a clone of the Imperial Troop tree up to Tier 3 (though I gave recruits very crappy shield and lousy spear), but I exchanged all the nice, clean looking imperial uniform stuff for the crappiest, dirtiest looking gear I could find that still had roughly equivalent stats. The group looks quite ragtag so far. Maybe I'll swap the gear out for better looking stuff eventually, but for now I like the "Dogs of War" look.
