I think many people have seen this video of a Russian guy endangering his left arm in the name of explosion: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYoJD8-MwMw But I personally didn't know that "carbide shooting" is like, a whole thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhUsvmab-8E https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMinR87NPVk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mzsgISuHn2I Bonus Eurodance version of Paint it Black in this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DvM6I7K8D20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RtYYOgLsQ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHhRKcwVbSs In some videos the people appear to be Russian, but in others they seem to be German or Dutch. Is it some kind of celebration? Like lighting off fireworks on the 4th of July in the US?

Did they hit anything? This is just the grown-up version of kids playing with gasoline and gunpowder. Scaled up because they can afford to. You did play with gasoline and gunpowder as a kid, right?

It's a Dutch rural tradition called Carbidschieten, traditionally you use a milk can to launch either the lid of the can or a ball, although people having been making bigger and bigger carbid canons each year. The explosion is the point, not shooting or hitting anything, same as fireworks. Here are some classics of the genre: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KdpgKW2MQ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIrWH3BQ1FI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ez_QRNL740s ekuNNN fucked around with this message at 21:45 on Nov 6, 2020 |

If there was ever an explosion near me I would just calmly walk away and I wouldn't even look at the explosion at all because I'm just really stoic and badass irl
