earlier today shining star qanon theorist bucky fullminster had a very funny meltdown in the uspol thread where he shared his insane homegrown theories about qanon, complete with 50,000 word medium manifesto. he was rightly probated for causing a derail, but i do think in the spirit of D&D and somethingawful we should offer him his own containment thread to share his truth instead of giving him a subforum ban. giving containment spaces to crazy posters (presterjane or D&D hero tobleronetriangular for example) is a long part of D&D tradition and quite funny. he seems harmless and if he's shunted off to a thread he won't be derailing other threads.

SA is still supposed to a comedy forum and homegrown nutjobs are a long and venerated SA tradition which make for the funniest threads. he's totally harmless and we should err on the side of nurturing our special flowers.

im posting this here and not in QCS because this seems like a conversation best to have specifically to the forum, and also because its not that big of a deal.

thank u and goon bless.

... of course!
I agree. Bucky Fullminster and their theories, much like the namesake nanomaterial, are worthy of serious study by the finest minds in D&D.

with the caveat that encouraging active mental illness is not good, so we shouldn't go down that particular path if it looks headed that way

What would stop these quarantine threads from attracting like-minded weirdos and turning into a place for them to form a micro-Parler?

The libertarian thread (used to?) have real libertarians. They didn't engage much with their critics or each other. I guess it worked out fine.

they wouldn’t be entirely rules free. it’s a zoo, not a wildfire sanctuary

We still do have one that pops in occasionally, you can tell when the thread gets a bunch of new posts.

Given how the conversation over at USPol went, the containment threads would probably end up more like this (tl;dr: goons dunking on crazy dude for 50 pages) than a hot-bed of conspiracy theory activism.

In that case, you have my endorsement. <3
