Hello Goons, I am currently working on a large indoor mural that is alongside a set of steps and need to build some sort of support structure to place a Baker-style scaffold on. The requirements are that it needs to be stable and solidly built, and will allow the scaffolding to roll back and forth. I have decided to build it from 5/8" plywood panels and 2x4"' stock. I started a rough plan in sketchup and was wondering if anyone on here could provide input as to any problems they might see with the design. The total weight will probably be about 650 pounds, including user and tools/paint/etc. Here's some images of the proposed design. The left-hand side is shorter since it needs to sit upon the stairs. If you look closely, you will notice that a larger portion of the panel where the scaffold sits lays atop a ledge that juts out from under the wall. In this image you can see the ledge and some rough measurements, as well as the scaffold and outrigger I temporarily tied onto a larger scaffold that I was using previously (to paint the ceiling) to show the width of the legs and outriggers. In this image you see the placement of the support on the stairs. I kinda just shoved it onto the image in photoshop, since I'm not a sketchup guy. I just kinda screw with it some. Any suggestions?
