Against Font in particular, he never figured out the range. He was countering with one or two shots only and whiffing, but never stepping in while throwing bigger combos or otherwise closing the last few inches. Straights to the body would have been a good mixup to try to disrupt Rob's jab, which was keeping the fight at a distance good for Font. E: not to say he never landed, but Font's chin held up, and Cody would've needed a way higher connect rate to score rounds or cumulatively hurt him.
