Man, that main event's still got me all jazzed. Say what you want about New Japan and the booking flaws and poo poo, but there's absolutely nobody on the planet that does a big fight match better.

That's it, I'm real down on New Japan right now and then I open my spreadsheet and 6 of my top 10 matches of the year have been from Nooj. Probably 7 now. It's strange.

The IWGP world title remained in the background of the shot, only disappearing from view after Red Shoes registered the three, when the cameraman moved in such a way that the title “passed through” Shingo, the new champion.

How come every wrestling promotion can’t have camera work that good.

:neckbeard: I'm SO loving happy for Shingo. I've been following his career since his early DG days so I'm incredibly stoked for how far he's come, and I said a few months ago that this HAD to be his year. I don't know what things would've been like if Ospreay hadn't gotten injured, but I really hope this reign lasts a while. He's got some potential amazing title defenses lined up and I AM HERE FOR IT YOU GUYS.

Probably my favorite top to bottom show from New Japan this year. Also the feuds set up are also some of the more interesting New Japan has had all year too (Tekkers/LiJ, Ishimori/Despy, Shingo/Murder Ibushi). Company still has issues and needs to cut down on Korakuen shows but I'm more positive about the direction going forward after this show

The nearfall spam is what makes me feel like I didn't get shortchanged by the 15-20 minutes of set-up, though. :v:

If they were gonna go for the sudden finish I sorta wish they'd gone Jay/Okada WK13 with it and Shingo just loving nails him with the LotD out of nowhere after like 13 minutes.

Shingo hitting the Stay Dream and an absolute motherfucker of a Sliding D to the side of the head was more than enough to make the pinfall feel deserved, I'm glad it didn't go on longer than that. It was a really good match layout. And I disagree with the second point wholeheartedly, this was really not the time to get weird with the main event. Look at the outpouring of positive reaction for just a great title match with no bullshit, the right participants, and a good outcome.
