My uncle is friends with Pat Farmer who is/(was?) a stagehand for Letterman. He's appeared in some bits. One time, he was at a family party and my uncle introduces Pat to my grandmother leading with the stagehand for Letterman thing. My grandmother shakes his hand and says "Letterman? He's a loving rear end in a top hat." It was really funny.
